The evolution of Community Harvest Hydroponics

Learn about the key decisions that have shaped our identity.

My Story

Hi, I'm Beryl, and I started Community Harvest Hydroponics because I've been exactly where you might be right now.

A few years ago, I was struggling to make ends meet. Fresh vegetables felt like a luxury I couldn't always afford, and when I could buy them, they'd often spoil before I could use them. I depended on food pantries when times were tight, but the produce there was usually already going bad—wilted lettuce, bruised tomatoes, vegetables that spoiled within a day or two of bringing them home.

I've always loved gardening. But as a renter, I had no yard, no space, and no control over what I could plant in the yard, if anything. . I tried growing vegetables in containers, but between the weather, pests, and my limited time, nothing really worked. I felt stuck—wanting fresh, healthy food but unable to make it happen.

Then I discovered hydroponics.

I'll never forget the moment it clicked: here was a way to grow food indoors, year-round, in a closet-sized space. No yard needed. No dealing with weather or soil or pests. Just fresh vegetables growing right in my home, regardless of my housing situation or budget constraints.

I spent years learning everything I could about hydroponic systems—testing different methods, making mistakes, figuring out what actually works. And the more I learned, the more I realized this wasn't just a solution for me. This could help so many people facing the same struggles I'd faced.

My background is in nonprofit work, specifically in food assistance programs. I've spent years serving families, seniors, and individuals dealing with food insecurity. I've seen the gap between what people need and what traditional food assistance can provide. I've watched people choose between buying fresh vegetables or paying other bills. I've seen the disappointment when food pantry produce spoils before it can be used, sometimes the only fresh produce available that month.

Community Harvest Hydroponics is my answer to all of that. This isn't just a business—it's my way of providing real solutions to problems I understand deeply because I've lived them. Every system I sell represents a household gaining food independence, reducing their grocery bills, and accessing truly fresh, nutritious produce whenever they need it.

I built this company on the belief that everyone deserves access to fresh food, regardless of their income or housing situation. That's why I offer subsidized systems for low-income households, no-contract maintenance plans, and genuine support—because I know what it's like to need help but also want dignity and independence.

If you're tired of expensive grocery store produce, frustrated with food pantry options, or want to grow food but think you can't because you're renting—I get it. I've been there. And I'm here to help you grow your own fresh food at home, starting today.

Let's grow something together.
